About Saudi coffee: qahwa and dates

Saudi coffee, qahwa, is lightly roasted and spiced with cardamom, poured in small measures from a dallah into handleless cups and served with dates. Arabic coffee, “a symbol of generosity”, is on UNESCO’s list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Hotels, majlis lounges and Saudi restaurants all serve it; take the cup with your right hand, and gently shake it when you have had enough.

Why it's on our list

  • UNESCO intangible heritage
  • Served with dates

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Saudi coffee: qahwa and dates before you go.
