Riyadh was built for the car, and distances are long: King Fahd Road and the ring roads carry the city from Diriyah to KAFD. The metro now links most districts, and ride-hailing apps and hotel drivers do the rest; for the Edge of the World and the dunes, go with a licensed operator in a four-by-four. The city is also one of the great markets for luxury cars, with flagship showrooms for Rolls-Royce, Ferrari and Porsche.
Getting about
The metro, ride-hailing apps and hotel cars.
Into the desert
Four-by-fours with licensed operators for the Edge of the World and the Red Sand dunes.
Take the metro along King Fahd Road at rush hour, and a driver for Diriyah at night.
The showrooms
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Riyadh on the Northern Ring Road, Ferrari and the Porsche Centre.
Our advice: avoid King Fahd Road in the evening rush, and allow extra time on Thursday nights.
