Riyadh’s great hotels follow its two axes. Along King Fahd Road and Olaya Street, the Four Seasons occupies the upper floors of the Kingdom Centre and Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah sits in the tower whose golden sphere holds The Globe. To the west, by the Diplomatic Quarter, The Ritz-Carlton stands in 52 acres of gardens planted with olive trees and palms, and The St. Regis, cast in its own words from Tuwaiq mountain stone, rises beside Via Riyadh. In the north, W Riyadh is the brand’s debut in the Kingdom, in the towers of KAFD; and on the edge of the city, Bab Samhan is the first hotel in historic Diriyah, a short walk from At-Turaif.

Our advice: book a high floor on King Fahd Road for the skyline at night, and a Diriyah night for the mud-brick city lit after dark.
