Al-Ahsa, in the east of the Kingdom, is one of the largest oases in the world, with palm gardens, springs, canals and historic buildings; the Al-Ahsa Oasis, an Evolving Cultural Landscape, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018. Saudi Arabia Railways’ East Line runs from Riyadh towards Dammam through the oasis town of Hofuf.
